Haider Makes Way For Bang Bang
Here's the latest update from the world of Bollywood. We bet you wouldn't want to miss this. Read on for details... Haider Makes Way For Bang Bang
Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider and Siddharth Anands Bang Bang, produced by rival studios UTV and Fox Star, seems to have called off their feud over the number of shows in single screens. The dark desi Shakespearean drama (to open in 1100 screens across the country) and the Indianised version of Knight And Day (releasing in 4500 screens) will now get equal number of shows in single screens that schedules four shows a day. Those that have five shows will run three shows of Bang Bang and two of Haider.
UTV and Fox Star had, reportedly, threatened the exhibitors to get one up on the other and fetch more shows for their movies at single-screen cinemas. According to reports, the producers had even arm-twisted exhibitors saying that they would lose future business from them if their film didnt get desired number of shows.
But the fight seems to be over now. With the advance bookings for the films on in full swing, Bang Bangs leading the ticket sales. Trade analyst Komal Nahta says, “Hrithik Roshan is understandably a bigger star than Shahid Kapoor is. And there is no comparison between the two movies. One is a niche film and the other one is an outright commercial entertainer. And it was obvious which of the two films would walk away with better advance bookings.”
